Mission: MoveAbout Therapy Services aims to assist children to reach their full potential and empower families to share in their child’s growth and development. By taking a holistic approach to occupational therapy evaluation and treatment and assessing each child’s developmental levels and individual differences, underlying challenges can be better understood and the difficulties that a child is experiencing can be resolved more quickly and more fully.
Parents: Parents and caregivers play an essential role in the development and growth of their child and can be invalueable to the therapeutic growth of their child. The occupational therapy staff at MoveAbout Therapy Services provide parents and caregivers with education, training and collaborative problem solving; incorporating parents in the treatment process where possible and connecting families with relevant resources. Empowering: Research shows that when therapy is meaningful and fun, children work harder for longer periods of time and learn more efficiently. The staff at MoveAbout Therapy Services believe that it is important to make challenging activities fun and exciting, incorporating the child’s interests. Children will become driven by the success they feel. Incorporating parents into therapy not only assists therapeutic carry over into the home but also makes the activities more meaningful through the context of the child’s most important relationships, wtih their parents.
Medicare & Private Health: Families can obtain reimbursements for occupational through Medicare’s Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC), Mental Helath Care Plan (MHCP) and the new Autism Initiative. David Jereb: David is an occupational therapist at MoveAbout therapy Services who has worked in a variety of disability related services for 13 years. He has spent the past four years working with leaders in the field of occupational therapy in the United States. David has training in a variety of cutting edge areas including Sensory Integration and Regulation, Neuro-Developmental Treatment techniques (NDT), the Developmental Individualized Relationship-based (DIR) model (Flooritime™), Therapeutic Listening, Therapressure (’Brushing’), the Alert Program and Craniosacral Therapy. David has also worked as a mediator and conciliator since 1998. He has experience working with a variety of clinical populations from infants to adolescents and adults.
David is the co-creator of the MoveAbout ActivityCards, a resource that provides therapists, parents, teachers and children with a variety of activities to encourage strengthening, sensory diet and sensory motor skills.
Kathy Jereb: Kathy worked as an occupational therapy assistant at MoveAbout Therapy Services in practices in the United States for eight years before moving to Australia. She has worked with leaders in the field of occupational therapy including Shelia Frick, Colleen Hacker, Gen Jereb & Beth Osten.
Kathy has training in a variety of cutting edge areas including Early Intervention services, Sensory Integration and Regulation, the Developmental Individualized Relationship-based (DIR) model (Flooritime™), Interactive Metronome, Samonas Sound Therapy, Therapeutic Listening, Therapressure (’Brushing’), the Alert Program and Craniosacral Therapy. Kathy has experience working with a variety of clinical populations from infants to adolescents and adults.
